Turiya Electric is a musical project formed by an eclectic mix of talented New York-based international musicians, led by the New York City based Australian/Spanish composer CisXo D'Ferreiro. Turiya Electric draws from a range of global styles including jazz, afrofunk, blues, soul, and flamenco and layers the music over a foundation of afro-rooted rhythms. Their music draws from artists such as Alice Coltrane, Kamasi Washington, Idris Muhammad, Christian Scott, Miles Davis, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Sons of Kemet, Mulatu Astatke, Fela Kuti, Irakere, and Mongo Santamaria.
